Food: The Foundation of Optimal Health
Long ago a Greek physician named Hippocrates made the following profound statement:
Known as the “Father of Medicine”, Hippocrates words resonate deeply within me and guide how I practice as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with extensive training and experience in Integrative and Functional Nutrition and a passion for health and wellness.
Let’s face it … everyone on the planet eats food. It’s a basic requirement for life and the foundation for achieving optimal health. The foods we regularly put into our bodies help determine whether or not we will become ill, and whether we will remain healthy as we age.
An “of course” statement, yes? So if food has the power to prevent much of the chronic disease that we experience today, then why aren’t we using food as medicine?
Answers like “it costs too much” or “it takes too much time” or “my family won’t eat healthy foods” are often given in response. Or maybe you’re so confused by conflicting information in the media that you just throw up your hands in frustration.
